CloseIcelandic fibre is one of the primitive breeds. These are breeds that have not changed from cross-breeding over time. The fleece typically has an outercoat that sheds water and a downy undercoat that traps warmth. In the icelandic, the outer coat is called tog and the undercoat is thel.
Lopi yarn is traditionally spun from Icelandic fleece and are used to make the traditionaly lopi sweater.
Blue-Faced Leicester is classified as a long-wool, but unlike other long-wools, it has been bred to have softer and finer fibres than you typically find in a long wool. Similar to other long-wools, fibre from this breed of sheep has a beautiful lustre.
We care about how animals are treated, so this fibre comes from farms that do not practice mulsing.
