HANDWASH LAY FLAT TO DRY

Through my work as co-founder of Alberta Yarn Project, I have been connecting with local sheep farmers to make Alberta yarns available to crafters since 2014. The Luddite Yarn brand is a continuation of this work.

All of my bases are non-superwash, plastic free, 100% breed specific wools grown and spun locally to me. I hand select every fleece that goes into my yarns from small scale sheep farms around Alberta. I work with farms that practice humane and regenerative agriculture, and I pay farmers well above global market prices for their raw wool.

The yarns are spun at Custom Woolen Mills in Carstairs, AB using an industrial revolution era spinning mule that mimics the motions of hand spinning. Due to the small bobbin size of the spinning mule, knots in the yarn are a necessary part of the manufacturing process, it is normal to find a couple knots in each skein. Learn more about the mill here.
