ClosePolwarth began its development into the fixed breed we know today in the 1880's in southeastern Australia, in the state of Victoria. This breed originated on just three Australian family farms and is today a popular and abundant wool producer for farms in many parts of the world.
Polwarth (3/4 Merino and 1/4 Lincolns) is and amazingly soft wool. With a Micron width between 22-25 microns, it is as soft as most Merino yarns, and is very comfortable to wear directly against your skin. With a staple length that can range between 4-6 inches, it is also a yarn that tends to not pill easily. Kniotters and crocheters find that it is lovely to work with, and produces a yarn with good stitch definition
